🌿 Why This Month Means So Much to Me
Some of my earliest and best memories are of loading up the car, rolling the windows down, and setting out to explore the land around us. My family wasn’t wealthy, but we lived in a prime spot, surrounded by national and state parks. Family summer vacations weren’t to Disneyland or fancy resorts, they were to Yellowstone, Yosemite, Lake Powell, and so many more magical places.
I was would look forward all school year to those summer trips. And imagine what wild and beautiful places we would see. We even got an air mattress for one trip that didn’t leak. 😂 On those trips, I learned that nature is both wild and patient, powerful and fragile. That the best kind of exploration isn’t about spending lots of money, it’s about paying attention. To the sound of the wind through the trees, to the way the sun hits the rocks at golden hour, to comparing the size and shapes of pinecones, to the simple joy of moving your body outside.
That love of nature and exploration shaped who I am. It rooted my heart deep into the Earth. And now, I want to invite you to step into that same sense of wonder and movement—through #ExploreInApril25.
🌟 What is #ExploreInApril25?
#ExploreInApril25 is an invitation to move, notice, and reconnect – with nature, with yourself, and with the simple joy of curiosity. This isn’t just about going on big hikes (though, if that’s your thing, go for it!). It’s about bringing a spirit of exploration into your everyday life.
You don’t have to travel far to be an explorer.
You just have to be willing to take the time to see things differently.
This month, I’m sharing a fun challenge. A bingo card of nature! Choose which one seems more your style. Take pictures or live in the moment and save only your memories.
🌱 Why This Matters (And How We Can Protect Public Lands)
There’s something deeply troubling happening right now: our public lands are at risk. National parks and protected spaces are being underfunded, de-prioritized, and threatened by development.
I don’t want to dive into politics. But I do believe this: Nature belongs to all of us. It should be protected, nurtured, and accessible for everyone.
That’s why #ExploreInApril25 isn’t just about movement—it’s about advocacy. I’ll be sharing a full blog post soon on how we can support public lands—from donating to organizations to small actions that make a big impact.
Because the more we love and explore nature, the more we’ll fight to protect it.
