2026 Garden Preseason

2026 Garden Preseason

I used to watch sports. Basketball, football, and hockey. Sunday I cooked football food, all season long. Now my sport is gardening and I cook garden food all season long. I feel like spring is a bit like playoff season for gardeners. There is so much work to do, and you go, go, go until you collapse. Can’t be just me?

Garden preseason, is from January – April here for me on the border of zone 6b/7a. It is a time to spend hours on seed websites and looking at catalogs, make several iterations of garden layout sketches (which I will ultimatley largely ignore and forget to update), and dream about the coming harvests of summer and fall.

This year I’m adding another garden bed and, of course, I’m saying it is “the last one”.

This is a quick peek into the garden after the temperatures rose enough for the pollinators that overwinter in the ground to come out of their sleep.

More garden videos coming soon, but please tell me what you’d like to see or learn about in the coming year, because I’m very slow at editing lol.

What are you most excited about growing in your garden this season?

Here, I share everyday living, time in nature, creative exploration, and the nerdy reasons why things do or don’t actually work.

You’ll find food, movement, books, art, and outdoor life here, practical tools for living with more intention, strength, and curiosity.

This isn’t about doing everything “right” or following trends for no reason. It’s about finding what works for you, and letting that be enough.
